The Back Square Project
Sacred Heart is moving forward and formulating plans for redevelopment of the back campus: the city square bordered by Carondelet, Jena, Cadiz and Baronne streets. This is the final phase of the master plan for the Rosary Campus. Our immediate plans, call for the demolition of the old Mater Hall building, which sustained heavy damage in the storm. Additionally, St. Joseph Hall (the brick building facing Carondelet Street) will be renovated in order to expand our arts and athletics programs. We have also begun designing what we envision to be a multi-use athletic complex adjacent to St. Joseph Hall.
Our success ultimately depends on having every member of our Sacred Heart community -- parents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, grandparents, friends -- actively participate in our efforts. This project will have a great impact on and will enhance Sacred Heart education for many generations to come. It will afford our girls the facilities and physical space that a 21st century education requires.
Endowment
The Sacred Heart Endowment
An essential component of strong academic institutions is a strong endowment. While some endowment funds are restricted for a particular use such as financial aid, general endowment funds assist the overall budget providing support for all aspects of the school's program such as faculty salaries and benefits, financial aid, athletics, the arts, instructional services, and college counseling. A percentage of endowment income is used each year within the general operating budget unless restricted for a particular purpose.
