Tasks that Make Life Worthwhile

Take time to dream-it hitches your soul to the stars.

Take time to work -- it is the price of success.

Take time to think-it is the source of power.

Take time to play-it is the secret of youth.

Take time to read-it is the foundation of knowledge.

Take time to worship-it is the highway of reverence and washes the dust of earth from your eyes.

Take time to laugh-it helps with life's loads.

Take time for health-it is the true treasure of life.

Take time for friends-they are the source of happiness.

Take time to love-it is the source of joy.

-Philip E. Humbert, Ph.D.

Special Note: This is a two-week Childpost so please keep it handy.  You will not receive another one until Friday, April 25.

Fathers' Club Crayfish Boil:

Don't forget about the Crayfish Boil tonight, April 11, from 6:00-10:00 p.m. in the Rosary Campus gym.  The crayfish are always plentiful and seasoned to perfection.  There is no charge for this adult-only event, and it's a great way to socialize with other parents.

French Quarter Fest:

The French Quarter Fest is this weekend (April 11-13).  There will be music, food, and fun for the whole family.  ASH and the N.O. Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau will sponsor a Treasures of the French Quarter craft booth in the Children's Headquarters, located in Dutch Alley which is adjacent to the Moonwalk between Dumaine and St. Philip streets, that will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.   The enclosed French Quarter map lists 25 famous "treasures" that you and your family can discover.

Eucharistic Adoration:

On Wednesday, April 16, from 8:25 a.m.-2:15 p.m. the Mater Campus will host Eucharistic Adoration in our Chapel.  All in our school community will spend a brief time in the chapel. Our little ones will spend only a few minutes with their classmates in the chapel, this important event teaches the girls the importance of quiet reflection.  A number of Middle School and Upper School classes may also join us.  We invite you to join us, as well.

Dress Down and Conge T-shirt Day:

On Friday, April 18, the Mater Campus will have free dress to celebrate the upcoming Conge.  Your daughter may wear a conge t-shirt or any ASH t-shirt, red ASH shorts, and tennis shoes.

Family Congé News:

The Conge is scheduled for Sunday. April 20, and the Conge and booth chairs could use some help:

April 16            Wednesday        4:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.                Booth-building on the Rosary Campus

                                                                                                (Dads, bring your toolbox!)

April 19            Saturday             9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.                Conge set-up on the Rosary Campus

April 20            Sunday 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.                Family Conge (Come one, come all!)

Calling All Dads on Duty!  The Mater Campus Wants You!

Enclosed with this Childpost is a special invitation for dads who have helped in the carpool line this year or anytime since our return from Katrina.  Please join us for breakfast and a short assembly on Wednesday, April 23.  The girls have planned a special salute in your honor.

Nursery News:

Has your Nursery daughter told you that she is now attending morning assembly with the PK and K students?!  Mrs. Higginbotham conducts the assembly and spends time praying, singing, and talking to the girls about life at Sacred Heart.  Your daughter is getting ready for Preschool!  It's important that you have her here on time each day-in fact, 7:55 would be just perfect!

And the Winners Are.

We collected 365 dozen eggs last week!  Congratulations to Mrs. Fitzmorris's Kindergarten class and Ms. Erin/Mrs. Brundige's Nursery class for bringing in the most eggs in Preschool and Little Hearts.  The confetti egg moms will treat each homeroom to a pizza lunch.  The teachers will let you know when the big day will occur.  Congrats, too, to Mrs. Blamphin's (1st Primary) class for bringing in the most eggs in their division.

Crisis Drill:

Sometime during the next two weeks the school will have a crisis drill.  At a designated time, each teacher will lock her classroom door and spend quiet time with the girls in her classroom.  Unlike a fire drill, a crisis drill requires the students and teachers to remain in the building.  It is important for the girls to be familiar with this procedure so that they will be calm and comfortable if there is ever a true emergency.

Thank You.

. to all who sent in Hearty Snacks this week.  We were able to deliver 118 snack bags to the students at The Good Shepherd School.

. to those who participated in the April Teacher Appreciation lunch.  There was a wonderful assortment of fruit, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, and sweets.  Everything was delicious!

Looking Ahead:

Will you be traveling this summer?  As a special family summer project, please save any unopened hotel/motel toiletries.  The older girls will be sponsoring a toiletry drive at the beginning of the year and will send the items they collect to The Good Shepherd Center.  The center provides shower and laundry services for the homeless in New Orleans.
