Upper School students at the Academy of the Sacred Heart recently completed courses in CPR and First Aid training through the American Red Cross as part of the health component of their physical education course. Students earned certification in adult and pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid, giving them the skills to deal with cardiac arrest, choking, injuries, and sudden illnesses.
Sacred Heart has provided CPR and First Aid certification training to Upper School students for more than ten years. “Our P.E. program prepares students by giving them knowledge and skills to live a long, healthy life,” said Leslie Schroth, Physical Education Department Chair at Sacred Heart and a certified American Red Cross instructor. “It is also important that we prepare them to help others, and with CPR and First Aid skills, they will go out into the world and possibly save someone’s life.”
