Athletics are an integral part of the overall curriculum at the Academy of the Sacred Heart where students from all divisions engage in a wide variety of athletic pursuits while having fun. The opening of our new, state-of-the-art Athletic Center allows us to expand our existing programs and offer our girls an outstanding venue in which to play and compete.
According to the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools, athletic participation has tremendous value because in addition to appreciating the importance of physical fitness, girls develop determination, perseverance, self-reliance, confidence, a positive self-image and strategic thinking skills. These are qualities and skills that serve young women well in all aspects of life.
I invite you to take some time to review the Academy of the Sacred Heart Athletics web pages; they highlight the physical education programs and sports that are offered as well as information about our winning teams and student-athletes’ many accomplishments. Additional, you will find information about our outstanding coaching staff, Sacred Heart Athletic Club (our parent Boost-HER organization), camps/clinics, and much more.
Our Sacred Heart teams and athletes continue to make a mark in LHSAA State Championship competition. This year alone, we captured State Championship Titles in cross country, soccer, and tennis, State Runner-up Titles in volleyball and swimming. Individually our athletes won State Gold Medals in cross country, 200m freestyle, tennis singles and long jump, Silver Medals in 1 mile, 2 mile and tennis singles, Bronze Medals in cross country and 300m hurdles. All of our interscholastic athletes are dedicated and passionate in their pursuit of excellence.
I look forward to answering any questions you may have about our athletic program, and I welcome your call or email. I can be reached at 504-269-1237 or MBarnes@ASHRosary.org.
