Here is a little history about our strategic plan. Over the years, Sacred Heart has grown and adapted to the changes in our world and the times in which we live. Over the past ten years, we have not only added a science and technology wing to our Rosary campus but more than doubled the size of the school with the purchase of the property on the corner of Napoleon and St. Charles avenues. Today, we cannot imagine Sacred Heart without those capital improvements. In 2008, the Continuing Our Excellence Capital Campaign focused on redevelopment of the back square of the historic campus. This project included construction of a regulation-size gymnasium with an elevated running track, while also adding: a concession area, locker rooms, coaches' offices, a new open-air bridge connecting the new complex to the historic Rosary Campus and the Lauren Tyler Read Outdoor Kiln Gallery which is a plein air ceramics classroom for the Academics' Art Program. Other enhancements called for the renovation and conversion of our former elementary school building into The Favrot Arts Center featuring: a fully-equipped art studio, a choral and instrumental music room, a multimedia/photography studio, a dance classroom complete with a sprung floor, a weight training room and wet room facility. Our athletics and arts programs have benefited through these enhancements for all of our athletic events, after-school programs and study groups.            

With the amount of participation in this campaign, we were able to complete a 14-month construction and dedicate our new facilities on October 20, 2011. We are fortunate to have raised $10,860,000, but remain $140,000 away from making this a debt free project. More information about the campaign is available through the Development Office at mgele@ashrosary.org and it is not too late to be included on the Wall of Honor located in the entrance hallway of the new gymnasium. (A temporary listing is in its place. The final glass wall will be etched and installed over the backdrop made from the wood from the old gYm floor when all campaign pledges have been paid.)
