The Cardinal MS Track team competed in the St. Martin’s Episcopal track meet this past Saturday. In the 5/6 Division the Cardinals took home 1st place out of 15 teams and in the 7th/8th Division the Cardinals took home 1st place out of 13 teams. The Cardinals had a few top 5 finishes in both divisions. In the 5/6th grade division Stella O. ’32 finished 2nd in the 200 with a time of 30.52 while Georgia C. ’32 placed 3rd in the same event with a time of 30.80. Reed C. ’33 took home 2nd place with a time of 6:43.32  in the 1600 M run. In the 100 m hurdles Mae Helen G. ’32 finished in 4th place with a time of 20.47. In Discus Juliette H. ’33 threw 26-9 for a 2nd place finish. In the high jump Stella O ’32 finished 2nd with a 4ft jump while Beatrice D. ’32 placed 4th with a 3-10 jump. Elizabeth G. ’33 jumped 10-7 in the long jump while Juliette H. ’33 placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 3-10. In the 4x100 M Mae Helen G, Georgia C, Adelaide S and Laney G relay the Cardinals took home 1st place while Aria K, Cece H., Beatrice D, and Margaret M, snagged 3rd place in the same event. Reed C, Ava V., Adelaide S, and CeCe H placed 4th in 4x200. And to round out our relays in the 4x400 Artemis L, Elizabeth G., Marielle S., and Elliot D, placed 3rd. In the 7/8 th grade division Georgia C. ’32 placed 5th in the 100 m dash.  In the 1600 M run Jane A. ’31 placed 5th with a time of 6:37.88. Joy G. '31 and Ann Frances H.’30 finished in 1st and 2nd place in the discus event with Joy throwing 51-01 and Ann Frances 39-08. Those two also finished 1st and 3rd in the Javelin event with Ann Frances throwing 54-05 and Joy 47ft. Joy G.’31 then placed first in the shot put with a throw of 26-03.50.  In High jump Hartley P.’30 jumped to 3rd place with a 4-2ft jump while Hailey T. ’30 placed 5th in the same event. Ela G. ’31 took 3rd place in the long jump with a 12-3 jump. In the 4x100 relay Caroline L, Madeline P, Amelia St. M, and Emeline E, placed 4th while Jasmine C., Coco D, Adair J and Reed P, took home 5th place in the same event. In the 4x200 relay Ela G, Coco D, Emeline E, and Adair J, finished in 2nd place while in the 4x400 relay Amelia St. M, Caroline L, Georgia C, and Marion N, finished in 4th place. Rounding out the relays for 7th/8th grade was the 4x800 relay of Coco D, Jane A, Helen W, and Naomi H. who took home 2nd place. Congrats Cardinals on your 1st meet of the season.
