Beat the Heat, Claim 3rd: Sacred Heart Cross Country Makes Strong Debut at Mt. Carmel Invitational

2026 Cross Country Updates

Academy of the Sacred Heart Cross Country program put their months of summer training to the test on Saturday morning in New Orleans City Park at the very hot and humid Mt. Carmel Invitational.  With the real-feel temperature hovering at 101°, they went one foot in front of the other against the defending Div. I & Div. II defending State Championship teams along with 16 other programs and came away from their first 3 mile race of the year with a well earned 3rd place finish overall.  It was a great start to a very promising season with the majority of last year's squad returning and the addition of some other talented runners.  The race had a total of 150 finishers and the Top 7 for Sacred Heart finished in the Top 38 spots with only 1 minute and 27 seconds being the split between our 1st ~ 7th runners and ONLY 2 minutes & 2 sec. split from our 1st ~ 11th runners in both the varsity and junior varsity races times combined.
