Cardinal Basketball Picks Up Two More Wins
The Cardinal varsity basketball team picked up two more wins last week. The Cardinals defeated Pearl River with a final score of 63-32. The team saw 7 different players contribute in the scoring column this game with Leah Varisco ’26 scoring a season high and game high 31 points. Libby Fitzpatrick ’26 and Zoie Kelly ’29 both secured double digit scoring with Libby having 12 points and Zoie 10 points. Rosie Varisco ’28, Lily Varisco ’27, Sophie Lo ’26, and Mary Fitzpatrick ’29 also all contributed to the scoring column. The team then turned their attention to St. Scholastica Academy defeating the Doves with a final of 36-32. Libby Fitzpatrick ’26 had a game high 14 points while Lily Varisco’27 had a big scoring night with a season high 13 points and 5 steals. The Cardinals also got a huge lift defensively from Michaela Alvarez ’27 and Sophie Lo’26 with both players helping in big moments on the defensive end.
The Junior Varsity team dropped a close game to Pearl River 19-18. Mary Fitzpatrick’29 led the Cardinals in scoring with 6 points. The team then avenged their loss to Pearl River with a strong win against St. Scholastica with a final score of 22-19 Lily G.’30 led the Cardinals in scoring with 10 points while Ellen G.’30 chimed in with 8 points in the contest.

The Cardinal Basketball team traveled to Washington, DC, over winter break to compete in the Sacred Heart Network Basketball Tournament, facing strong competition while building meaningful community with sister schools from across the country.

Academy of the Sacred Heart has earned PLATINUM recognition on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll.

Academy of the Sacred Heart celebrated the Feast of Mater Admirabilis on October 20, 2025, with an all-school Mass and live tableau. This year’s senior class chose Kate Cummings '25.
