The Cardinal Basketball team competed in the highly competitive Chappelle basketball tournament going 2-1. The Cardinals started the tournament by defeating St. Thomas Aquinas with a final of 58-19. Leah Varisco ’26 captured a double-double leading the team in scoring with 22 points while also having 11 takeaways. Following Leah in scoring was Zoie Kelly ’29 with 11 points. Olivia Gravolet ’28 made a major impact off the bench coming in the contest scoring 5 points but grabbing a team high 8 rebounds. The Cardinals then took a tough loss the following day to St. Mary’s Dominican with a final score of 35-40. Libby Fitzpatrick ’26 managed a game high 16 points but it wasn’t enough to help take the Cardinals over the top. The team then got a really nice bounce back win the next day against Chappelle with a final score of 42-32. The Cardinals had a really well balanced scoring attack with Leah Varisco ’26 leading the way with a team high 14 points. Six other Cardinal players were able to get into the scoring column, Lily Varisco’27 (6), Rosie Varisco’28 (5), Zoie Kelly’29 (4), Libby Fitzpatrick’26 (5), Sophie Lo’26 (3) and Olivia Gravolet ’28 (5).
