Cardinal Soccer Earns Senior Night Win, Battles St. Joseph’s

In soccer news, the Cardinals took on the De La Salle Cavaliers on senior night. As expected, they were able to emerge victorious with an 8-0 victory. 3 goals were scored by Lilly Rosenstein ’26! Goals were also scored by Avery Alig ’26, Sally Irwin ’26, Vivian Real ’26, Leah Varisco ’26, and Abby Truxillo ’26.

Next up was a trip to Baton Rouge to take on St. Joseph’s Academy. In what was expected to be a very tough match against a Division I opponent and multiple times state champion, it certainly didn’t disappoint. After a scoreless first half, St Joseph’s struck first with about 25 minutes left of the game. About 10 minutes later Leah Varisco ’26 was able to tie the score at 1 off of an assist from Colette English ’27. It should also be noted that the goal would not have happened without a beautiful cross into the penalty area from Coco Varisco ’30.

Another tough week lies ahead with matches against last year‘s Division II state champion, St. Scholastica Academy, and top five ranked Division I, opponent  Mandeville High.
