Cardinals Close Regular Season Strong, Earn #3 Playoff Seed
Prior to the Mardi Gras break the Cardinal basketball team celebrated two more wins in district play before earning a #3 seed and a bye for their first round of playoffs. The Cardinals defeated Morris Jeff on senior night with a final of 42-12. Leah Varisco’26 led the scoring column with 9 points while Sophie Lo’26 had 7 points and Libby Fitzpatrick’ 26 chipped in 6 points. Senior Lousiana Paladino also contributed with two baskets to give her 4 points in the contest. Congratulations to the class of 2026 seniors Leah, Libby, Sophie, Evy, Louisiana and our managers Merritt and Shyade on a great night. The team then wrapped up the regular season with a win against Ursuline with a final of 60-18. Leah Varisco ’26 led the team in scoring with 23 points and 5 assists. Libby Fitzpatrick ’26 turned in 12 points while Zoie Kelly ’29 chimed in 10 points. The Cardinals are now locked in and focused on their playoff push.

The Cardinal Basketball team traveled to Washington, DC, over winter break to compete in the Sacred Heart Network Basketball Tournament, facing strong competition while building meaningful community with sister schools from across the country.

Academy of the Sacred Heart has earned PLATINUM recognition on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll.
