Cardinals deliver strong finishes and personal bests at Patrick Taylor Invitational

On Wednesday afternoon after their day of service, the 12 Track & Field athletes headed over to the West Bank side of the river to participate in the Patrick Taylor Invitational at West Jefferson High School.

The team's scoring started very well in the Javelin, where René Charles '26 captured 2nd place with a throw of 90' 11" and making her debut in the event, Lucy Richmond '29, may have even surprised herself with her 3rd place finish with a wonderful start to her career with a toss of 87' 11" into a very strong headwind.  Following that, both of them headed to the Discus where René finished in 4th overall at 76' 7" and Lucy, convinced by Coach Greg and René to give it a try, tossed 58' 7" to add to her first timer status and finished ahead of 9 other competitors in the event.

With the start of the Track events, the 4x800 M Relay team of Leah Varisco '26, Claire Donnelly '30, Colleen Collins '27 and Olivia Truxillo '30 got out to an early lead and pushed each individual leg with themselves being their toughest competition, finished 1st by 55 seconds I er the 2nd place team in 10:55.  The 4x200 M Relay team of Eleanor Erazo~Pierson '26, Reese Tennison '26, Therese Carton '29 and Claire Donnelly '30 ran their way to 6th place in 1:56.81.  Meredith Cortez '26 ran 14.59 in the 100 meter dash.

In the 1600 Meters, with a last minute change, Bailey Reynaud '30 (5:47.01 PR) took advantage of her opportunity and along with Olivia Truxillo '30 (5:54.41), they ran to the front of the pack and helped each other to new personal best times by finishing in 1st & 3rd places overall.  The last event for the Cardinals at this meet for us was the 400 Meters, where Claire Donnelly '30 beat all to the finish line in 1:01.6 and Therese Carton '29 finished in 5th with a 1:09.1.

With only being entered into very few events, the Cardinals still scored enough points to tie for second place which is a testament to the talent that this team has.
