Cardinals Soccer Secures No. 2 Seed in State Playoffs

The Cardinals soccer team posted another very strong week in defeating last year‘s Division II State Champion, St. Scholastica Academy, as well as a top five Division I opponent, the Mandeville Skippers.

The first match against SSA was a very tight contest, but Rosie Varisco ’28 was able to score the game winner off of an assist from Sloan Rovetto ’30. However, the goal wouldn’t have been scored without Emmy Woodward, ’28. It was her brilliant cross that set up the game winner!

A few days later, Mandeville was in town to play a match on a very icy day with winds gusting up to 22 mph. The Cardinals had the wind in the first half and Emmy Woodward ’28 , was able to score what proved to be the game winner. They were able to hang onto the lead with 40 strong defensive minutes of the second half. The victory clinched the number two seed in the state playoffs.

Thestate playoffs will start later this week!
