Sacred Heart Volleyball | Victory Over Newman

On Wednesday October 15, the JV and Varsity Teams traveled to Newman for an unforgettable night of Volleyball.  First, the Junior Varsity team set the tone for the evening.  After many long played rallies, JV finished with an overall WIN in a 3 set match!  (26-24, 24-26, 15-10)

Reese Provosty ’29  led the way with 12 kills.  Georgia Dazet ’29 had 4 kills and Addy C.’29  finished with 3. Stella Mestayer ’29 led with 10 digs, Addy had 4 followed by Hazel P. ’29  and Emerson Guste ’29 each finishing with 3.

WHAT A WEEK FOR VARSITY VOLLEYBALL!  After JV walked away with a WIN, Varsity was up next.  And what a match it was.... The team played with so much heart and high energy thanks to the students and fans who came out to support them during this Uptown Rivalry match.  It was amazing and so was the BIG WIN in the 4 set thriller. (25-20, 25-23, 15-25, 26-24)  Ellie Habetz ’26 and Courtney Habetz ’28 each had 2 aces.  Ellie and Maddie LeBlanc ’28 led with 10 digs each followed by Courtney with 9. Eleanore Lowe ’28 led with 15 kills, Elizabeth Alford ’27 had 10, Ava Benefield ’29 had 7 and Olivia M.’26  had 6.  It was a big night for all of our hitters.  Courtney and Caroline Barlart ’27 had a combined total of 37 assists.  Way to go Cardinals!!! 

Over the weekend, the Varsity team headed to Baton Rouge Magnet High for a 2 day tournament.  The team finished 5-0 as Tournament Champs!  On Friday, they defeated Ascension Christian (25-16, 25-17) and Baton Rouge (25-14, 25-8).  On Saturday they returned ready to play with wins over West Feliciana (25-14, 25-18), Central Private (25-17, 25-13) and Baton Rouge (27-25, 25-10) in the Championship match.  For the tournament, Ellie Habetz ’26  led with a total of 33 digs.  Caroline Barlart ’27 and Courtney Habetz ’28 each had 21 digs, Maddie LeBlanc ’28 finished with 13 and Eleanore Lowe ’28 with 11.  Caroline led with 11 aces, Maddie had 7 while Ellie, Courtney and Eleanore L each had 5.  Elizabeth Alford ’27 led the tournament with a total of 38 kills and 3 blocks.  Eleanore L had 22 kills and 3 blocks.  Ava Benefield ’29 finished the weekend with 17 kills while Olivia M.’26 finished with 16 and 3 blocks.  Caroline finished with a total of 53 assists and Courtney had 34.  Way to go Ladies!
