Indoor Track

On Saturday, February 21, the qualifiers for the Indoor Track & Field State Championships went to Baton Rouge at LSU to compete in the 2 events that earned their spots in ~ the 4 x 800 Meter Relay and the 1600 Meter Run.  The relay team of Olivia Truxillo '30, Molly O'Sullivan '28, Angelina Wilmore '30 and Bailey Reynaud '30, knew that their goal was to run the best that they could and that each member had to rely on their sisters (teammates) for the 16 total laps.  It is what a team effort means and each leg is just as important as the other...and they worked well together as they finished 9th overall out of the 12 that qualified.

In the 1600, Angelina Wilmore ’30 took full advantage of her opportunity that was given to her as she received a wildcard entry into the finals.  After some talking to by Coach Jenny and Coach Greg, Angelina prepared herself for the race of her life and according to plan, she was able to, through her rigorous training and commitment to it, run her planned race and drop a full 13 seconds from her previous best which she had run just 1 month earlier.  Her time of 5:41.15 in the 1600 Meters earned her 11th overall is a great way to end the Indoor season for her and transition directly to the Outdoor season as a very nice confidence boost.

Congratulations to all of the runners on a successful Indoor Season and we look forward to more progress as the Outdoor season is just around the corner.
