Track & Field Shines With 1st Place Relay and Strong Finish at Newman Invitational
The Sacred Heart Track & Field Team had another outstanding performance at the Newman Invitational this past Thursday at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. The Cardinals finished 4th out of 15 teams. This young team continues to shine and get better with each meet of opportunities and competitions.
Below are some of the top finishes from the meet:
4 x 800 meter relay 10:19 ~ Season Best ~ 1st Place ~ Leah Varisco (2:32.5), Claire Donnelly(2:31.5), Elle Fleming(2:39.5), Angelina Wilmore(2:35.5)
High Jump ~ 2nd ~ Arabella Lara 5'0 ~ Season Best
Discus ~2nd ~ Callie Langhetee 79'11" / 5th Place -Mary Fitzpatrick 73'2" New PR
Javelin ~ 2nd ~ Renee Charles 87'3"
1600 Meter Run ~ 3rd ~ Leah Varisco 5:34 ~ Season Best / 5th ~ Angelina Wilmore 5:39. New PR
3200 Meter Run ~ 4th ~ Olivia Truxillo 12:42 New PR
Triple Jump ~ 5th ~ Arabella Lara 29' 4 1/2" ~ Season Best

The Cardinals compete this Friday at Tad Gormley again in the Mardi Gras Relays.

During Mardi Gras, Sacred Heart partnered with Grounds Krewe’s Recycle Dat initiative, hosting a recycling hub along the St. Charles parade route to help make Carnival celebrations more sustainable. Volunteers across eight stations diverted more than 15,000 pounds of recyclable materials and throws from landfills.

The Cardinal Basketball team traveled to Washington, DC, over winter break to compete in the Sacred Heart Network Basketball Tournament, facing strong competition while building meaningful community with sister schools from across the country.
