Molly Sanders, MS, NCC, LPC. Molly graduated from Tulane University in 2011 with a Bachelors in Arts in Political Science and International Development. She earned a Masters in Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans in 2014. As a Master’s student, she completed her internship at St. George’s Episcopal School where she went on to work as the Early Childhood School Counselor for six years. Molly is currently working towards her Registered Play Therapist certification through LSU Health, School of Allied Health Professions Department of Clinical Rehabilitation & Counseling, Child & Family Counseling Clinic. Molly is an alum of Academy of the Sacred Heart, The Rosary class of 2007. Throughout her career, Molly has supported students and in early childhood, lower school and middle school and has experience in collaborating with faculty to design and implement developmental counseling curriculum and social-emotional programming. 

This is Molly’s second year as the Middle School Counselor at Sacred Heart and is the Director of Counseling. As the Middle School Counselor, Molly collaborates with the administrative team, faculty, and families to support students in the Sacred Heart community. She provides individual counseling sessions to students and coordinates group counseling two - four times per month with all students in the Middle School. Along with the Upper School Counselor, she coordinates the Peer Support Program. The Peer Support program is a vital part of the counseling curriculum, which trains junior and senior students to mentor eighth grade students on issues regarding social and emotional growth, peer relationships, developmental challenges, and overall mental health.

Janice T. Foulks, MEd, LPC, 

Mater Campus Counselor (Little Hearts and Pre and Lower Divisions) and the former Director of Counseling and Student Support Services at Sacred Heart, earned her M.Ed. in Counseling at Loyola University. In addition to having a background in Counseling, she is certified as a teacher in Kindergarten and the elementary grades. She also has extensive experience in personnel work in various settings in the New Orleans area. Over the years, Janice has been active in community service which includes the Visiting Committee for the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University, Chairman of the GNO Crimestoppers Board of Directors, President and Board member for French Quarter Festivals, Inc., and Chair of the Special Events Committee Archdiocesan Catholic Cultural Heritage Center. In 2005 she received the Order of St. Louis Medallion for service to the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, King of France where she continues as a Minister of Hospitality and a member of the Parish Council. These activities have all led to Janice having a broader perspective in working with the school community. 

As a Licensed Professional Counselor she was one of the first elementary counselors in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, has established Developmental Counseling Programs at three area schools, and presented at the state and national levels on the topic of School Counseling. In her role as Counselor for the Mater Campus, she engages with faculty, students, and families in all Divisions. In addition, she has a PlayRoom for students in grades one - four. For many years she has been a Practicum and Internship Site Supervisor for graduate students in Counseling Programs from both area and national universities. She received the St. Philippine Duchesne Award from the Sacred Heart Alumnae Association, the Charles D.Grenier Faculty/Staff Service Award, and was honored with dedication of the 2020 yearbook by the students.

Kayla Allain, PLPC, NCC. Kayla received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Loyola University New Orleans and her Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans in 2020. In graduate school, she was passionate about multicultural counseling, and conducted research with her professor on the importance of cultured-centered mentoring for Black women in the counseling profession. She has presented her research at both the national and regional levels. Kayla earned the honor of being named the Louisiana Counseling Association’s Graduate Student of the Year 2019 and the LSU Health Sciences Departmental Faculty Award in 2020. She began her role as the Coordinator of Diversity and Inclusion at ASH in January of 2021.

In her role at ASH, she provides consulting and programmatic services to Little Hearts, Preschool, Lower, Middle, and Upper School students, as well as all-school faculty and staff. She develops tools to have conversations that matter around diversity, equity and inclusion. She works closely with the Counseling Department to provide a diverse lens and inclusive perspective to the Developmental Counseling Program. Kayla supports the sharing of stories through a Middle School and Upper School Diversity Club, as well as an Affinity Group amongst students. In addition, she serves on the Open Hearts, Open Minds Council, a faculty-led council devoted to hearing and voicing the needs of the Sacred Heart diverse community.

Allie Timberlake, M.A. holds a BA in Mathematics from Loyola University New Orleans and an MA in Higher Education Administration from New York University. While in graduate school, she presented at regional and national conferences about mulit-racial identity and published a paper on non-traditional first generation students in NYU’s Journal of Student Affairs. She brings a wealth of college admissions experience and counseling relationships to her role as College Counselor at Sacred Heart, having worked at selective universities around the country and with more than 20 years of experience in education.

She joined Sacred Heart from Jesuit High School, where she guided over 1,000 students and their families through the college application process for 10 years. In her new role, Allie looks forward to getting to know the students in the Sacred Heart community; guiding them in building a strong academic foundation; encouraging them to explore their interests; and assisting each student in building her confidence and self-awareness.
 
Allie is extremely familiar with the Sacred Heart network, having graduated from the Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Houston. She understands the competitiveness of the college admission process, as well as the need to find a good fit for students. Throughout her career as a counselor, she has seen firsthand how a student’s preparation for applying to college – including professional guidance, family support and academic rigor – contributes to their ultimate collegiate success.

Stacy Crane, C.C.C. - SLP, L-SLP, Ph.D., joined the Academy of the Sacred Heart as the Lower School Learning Specialist in 2015 after working privately with Sacred Heart students for over 15 years.  Stacy received her Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a Mild/Moderate certification. She continued her education in New Orleans at LSU Health Science Center-School of Allied Health where she received a Master’s degree in Communication Disorders. While in graduate school, Stacy started the first chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) at LSU Health Sciences Center where she served as President.

After practicing as a speech pathologist and learning specialist for several years, Stacy returned to the University of New Orleans where she enrolled in a Doctoral Program. She earned a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Special Education with concentration in educational assessment and research. While receiving her doctorate, Stacy wrote and worked on several grants serving Public School Systems in the Greater New Orleans Area. She also presented at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the Southwest Educational Research Association (SERA). She was honored with the Special Education & Habilitative Services Doctoral Graduate Faculty Award. 

Stacy has vast experience providing services to students who have a diverse learning profile.  She can often be found collaborating with teachers to support student learning and instruction in the classroom.  She  also assists faculty by administering to students  informal and formal assessments. Additionally, she provides small group and individual academic intervention to students who are identified as appropriate candidates and tracks and monitors their progress in the classroom. Stacy thoroughly enjoys working with students, teachers, and administration on a daily basis addressing learning needs in the classroom.

Leah LaGraize, M.S., CCC-SLP joined Academy of the Sacred Heart as a middle school learning specialist in 2023.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Louisiana State University and her Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  As a practicing speech-language pathologist in the greater New Orleans area for nearly 25 years, Leah has served students with a wide variety of learning and language based disorders through private practice, public schools, and independent private schools.  

Mrs. LaGraize is trained in multiple research-based methodologies and reading programs for students with dyslexia and dysgraphia.  She maintains a keen interest in ongoing professional development, particularly as it relates to student use and application of assistive technology for learning disorders.  Leah values relationships she builds with her students and their families as she advocates for the student’s learning challenges in and out of the classroom.  She is skilled at assisting her students build executive function skills and self-advocacy through their academic experiences.  Outside of work, Leah enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, reading, and remaining active in her church community.

Jennifer Slattery, M.C.D., CCC-SLP has been practicing as a speech-language pathologist for the past thirteen years, specializing in neuro rehabilitation. Jenny can’t wait to share my excitement and bring her unique background and experience to the Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist position. Jenny is passionate about brain development across the ages and adapting to new challenges that are facing this generation of learners. She helps students understand and implement supportive strategies to promote success at school, home, and in the community. Outside of work, Jenny enjoys spending time with her husband Tom, daughter Isla, and their golden doodle, Ginger.

Allison Suhren, MAT, joined Sacred Heart’s faculty in 2016 as the Upper School Learning Specialist. Allison graduated from Rollins College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She continued her education at Emory University where she received a Master of Arts in Teaching. As an associate teacher for a language and reading disabled class at The Schenck School in Atlanta, she completed a two-year Orton-Gillingham Level I certification program. 

Allison joined the Sacred Heart network in 1999 as a teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco. She was a member of the first cohort of the Educational Therapy Certificate Program at UC Berkeley Extension. During this two-year certificate program combining theory and practice, her studies focused on learning differences and disabilities, learning styles, administration and interpretation of the Woodcock-Johnson III, Slingerland Multi-sensory Language Program remediation techniques, and psycho-educational assessment and evaluation. Allison completed a year-long internship at the UC Berkeley Extension Educational Therapy Clinic in San Francisco.

As the Upper School Learning Specialist, Allison serves as a liaison between students, teachers, administration, and outside specialists to coordinate overall educational support services. She develops and manages academic support plans for Upper School students and provides support in the areas of study skills, time management, and self-advocacy skills.  As Sacred Heart’s SSD Coordinator for the College Board and TAA Coordinator for ACT, Allison works closely with students and their families to submit requests for academic accommodations to national testing organizations.

Mindy DeHart Matrana, R.N., graduated from Charity School of Nursing in 2004. She is ACLS, PALS, and CPR certified.. Nurse Mindy is a member of the National Association of School Nurses, and the Louisiana Association of School Nurses. She also brings to ASH an extensive background in pediatric emergency nursing, having served at local area hospitals for many years.

In 2012, Mindy joined the Academy of the Sacred Heart as the School Nurse. She strives to create a positive health environment, not only in the infirmary, but throughout the school in classroom instruction and in building and playground safety for all students. She interacts with faculty, staff, students, and parents to create positive health attitudes, and provides information to the Sacred Heart community thus leading to positive health decisions. She also participates in pandemic preparedness.

In 2021, she received the Academy of the Sacred Heart Charles D. Grenier Faculty/Staff Award for service to the community.
