Scholarships at ASH

The A. Louis Read Scholarship Fund was established in 1987 in memory of A. Louis Read, who was a leader in New Orleans as well as father and grandfather of eight Rosary alumnae. The fund was established by Mr. Read’s daughter, Susan Read Johnson ’64, and her husband, Doug Johnson.

The Ana Marie Rapier Scholarship Fund was established in 1985 by a gift by Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Rapier in honor of his mother, Ana Marie. 

The Brianna Murphy Scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of Brianna Murphy, Class of 2001, by a gift from her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Murphy and the class of 2001.

The Centennial Scholarships were established in 1987 by the Board of Trustees in celebration of the school’s Centennial.

The Sacred Heart Distinguished Scholars Award is a scholarship fund established in 2003 by the Board of Trustees.

The Dorothy Fleury Hills’ Blue Ribbon Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 in memory of Dorothy Fleury Hills ’30.

The Dr. Timothy M. Burns Scholarship was established in June 2014 by Sacred Heart parents and friends to honor Dr. Burns’ tenure as Headmaster at Sacred Heart. The recipient embodies St. Madeleine Sophie Barat’s words, “Your example, even more than your words, will be an eloquent lesson to the world.”  

The Esther Adams Scholarship Fund was funded in 1991 by a bequest from the estate of Esther Adams.

The Euxenia Baccich Rathe ’09 Scholarship Fund was established in 1981 by an anonymous donor.

The Golden Cardinal Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J. McAlear.

The Goizueta Foundation Scholars’ Fund was established in 2001 with funds from the Foundation.

The Heidingsfelder Family Scholarship was established in 2021 by Dr. Charles E. Heidingsfelder and The Charles E. Heidingsfelder Jr. Foundation, in loving memory of Charles’ wife, Dorothy “Dot” Henican Heidingsfelder (1960) and mother, Mary Babst Heidingsfelder (1931). 

The Kimberly Marie Adams Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 in memory of Kimberly Marie Adams ‘92 by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey P. Adams, and her friend, Mr. John J. Maceluch.

The Khoury Family Scholarship was established in 2018 through a gift from Daniela and Elie Khoury, parents of Elise Khoury (2026), in appreciation for the opportunities that a Sacred Heart education can afford a young woman. 

The Lapeyre Scholarship Fund was established in 1985 in memory of Sr. Odile Lapeyre, RSCJ, by family and friends.

The Leading with the Sacred Heart Scholarship was established in 2020 by the Society of the Sacred Heart.

The Marguerite Adams-Kaulakis ’31 and Arnold Kaulakis Scholarship for Global Education (Adams-Kaulakis Scholarship for Global Education) was established in 2016 in memory of Marguerite (Adams) Kaulakis ’31 by her husband, Arnold Kaulakis, as his dying wish to acknowledge his deep respect for the quality education provided at the Rosary in the Sacred Heart tradition.

The Mothers’ Club Scholarship was established in 2019 with a gift from the Mothers’ Club. 

The Nancy Stafford Hartson Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 in memory of Nancy Stafford Hartson, an alumna of the Class of 1984.

The Oliver H. Dabezies, Jr. Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 by a gift from the Charles W. and Elizabeth Goodyear Foundation and matching gift from the BHP Billiton Matching Gift Program in memory of Oliver H. Dabezies, Jr., father of Elizabeth Goodyear ’81.

The Peggy D. Sarpy ’63, Margaret D. Ramsey ’32, and Marion D. Ramsey Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 in memory of Peggy Denechaud Sarpy ’63 and her mother, Margaret Denechaud Ramsey ’32. It was established to honor the memory of a mother and daughter, both alumnae of the Sacred Heart. In 2020, the family included Marion D. Ramsey, a beloved teacher at the Rosary. 

The Philippine Duchesne Award was established in 2018 and is named in honor of Sacred Heart’s foundress of the first communities in the United States.

The Sharon Ellis Murray Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 by friends and family to honor the memory of Sharon Ellis Murray, an alumna of the class of 1991.

The Shelby Ryan Leonhard Scholarship, established in 2010, is awarded each year in memory of Shelby Leonhard, Academy of the Sacred Heart Class of 2015.

The Sister Mary Adele Bush, RSCJ Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 in memory of Sr. Adele Bush, a Religious of the Sacred Heart and beloved Sacred Heart educator at the Rosary.

The Sister Shirley Miller, RSCJ Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 in honor of Sister Shirley Miller who served as Headmistress of the Rosary for fourteen years. The fund is supported annually by The Sacred Heart Rosary Alumnae Board.

The Virginia Wilson Voelker Scholarship Fund was established in 1991 by the Voelker Family in memory of Virginia Wilson Voelker, their beloved mother. It was created by Mrs. Voelker’s children to honor their mother whose granddaughters have been leaders, athletes, and successful students and alumnae of Sacred Heart.

The William Copeland Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 in memory of Mr. Copeland and in honor of his daughter, Dr. Leslie Copeland, alumna 1991.
