Why do you need a tuition refund plan?

Your financial obligation to the school is for the full annual tuition as stated in the school’s enrollment contract. The school cannot refund tuition or cancel unpaid obligations if your child is forced to withdraw during the academic year.

Every year, thousands of students must withdraw from private schools. The following are examples of reasons why:

• Death of Parent or Student
• Job Loss

ASH offers financial aid and merit-based, partial scholarships. ASH does not offer athletic scholarships.

Families who have girls entering Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade with a demonstrated need for assistance may apply. Financial aid is not available for our Little Hearts program.

Families who receive financial aid represent a wide range of financial backgrounds. While the Academy of the Sacred Heart believes the primary responsibility for financing a student’s education lies with the family, any family who cannot afford the full tuition may apply for financial aid. Applying for financial aid will not affect one’s chance for admissions. Families interested in applying for financial aid must submit an application via Blackbaud Financial Aid Management before Monday, January 7, 2025

Like many of our area schools who are members of Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), Academy of the Sacred Heart uses an independent third party needs analysis system, Blackbaud Financial Aid Management, to assess your financial ability to pay. Financial need is determined by a family’s ability to meet educational expenses, not by the willingness to pay. The application takes into account such things as income and taxes, basic living expenses, debts, family size, number of children attending tuition-based schools and parent/student assets.

Please DO NOT send any financial aid information or documentations to Academy of the Sacred Heart. There is an application fee of $35 per application per year payable to Blackbaud Financial Aid Management.

The ASH Financial Aid Committee reviews the external application and the Blackbaud Financial Aid Management assessment when assessing a family’s’ ability to pay. All of your information is held in strict confidence and will be reviewed in private by members of our Financial Aid Committee. 

Both parents must complete the Blackbaud Financial Aid Management application. In case of divorce, each parent/household must complete the financial aid application and send in all required documents. The ASH Financial Aid Committee will consider the resources of both natural parents and their household income. If either or both parent has remarried, the committee will consider the resources of the stepparent. Each parental household must complete the full application process.
 
If one parent is not involved in the child’s life, a statement to this effect from a third party who is aware of the situation in a professional capacity (a lawyer, member of the clergy, school official) may be substituted for the financial documents from the parent. Please email the Financial Aid Office to discuss this situation.

No. However, income will be computed for a non-employed spouse if there are no preschool children at home or if the non-employed spouse is not attending school. An exception can be made if the parents are caring for a disabled or critically ill individual who resides in their home. Consideration may also be given for the parent who is home-schooling other children in their family.

Financial aid is subject to annual review and not renewed automatically. Parents must file a new application every year. The amount one receives can change from year to year.

All of your information is held in strict confidence and will be reviewed in private by members of our Financial Aid Committee. 

We expect families receiving assistance to do the same and NOT disclose their financial aid award with other parents or teachers. Failure to honor this policy may result in withdrawal of the entire award or jeopardize your eligibility for a future award.

For the 2025-2026 school year, a large majority of financial aid applicants received some amount of financial aid. Despite our strong commitment to our financial aid program and the effort to enroll an economically diverse student body, it is possible that the number of students who qualify for assistance could be greater than what we are able to meet from year to year. Some families could be denied aid.
