Sophia '23: on Creativity
What does art mean to you?
From a young age, I have always had a love for art. It helps me express my creativity, and allows me to feel relaxed and stress free. Art helps me express myself when I can't describe my feelings in words. A big part of my inspiration comes from a previous art teacher of mine. She always believed in me and shaped me into the artist I am today.
How did ASH get you interested in the arts?
Since Lower School, art was always a part of Sacred Heart's curriculum. The school's art department is very encouraging for those who love to learn and experiment with art. Some academic courses manage to incorporate art into their subjects as well. Sacred Heart has always encouraged me to pursue what I am passionate about.
What inspired your AP Art portfolio project?
I have always been interested in fashion and art, and the idea of combining the two was very interesting to me.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I have always had a love for bright and vibrant colors. Being able to experiment with new materials and step out of my comfort zone has always inspired me to create art.
What do you love about ASH?
Something I love about ASH is the community. ASH feels like a family, and helps each student feel like they belong.
