Alumnae Weekend 2020

Dear Rosary Alumnae Association,

We hope this letter finds you well.

After much thought, reflection and guidance, the executive committee of the Alumnae Association has decided to postpone Reunion Weekend scheduled for October 16 and 17, 2020. This decision, though difficult to make, is the right choice. COVID-19 has proven that these are uncertain times, and your health and well-being are of the utmost importance. We appreciate the feedback from those of you that responded to the survey. This only reinforced our instinct that it was in the best interest of our alumnae community not to host events this fall.

As our committee discussed plans for a physically distanced Reunion Weekend that met all of the ever-changing guidelines of the CDC and Orleans Parish, we determined that we just could not guarantee a fun event that ensured the safety of our guests. Current regulations limit indoor attendance to 25 people and outdoor events to 50 people; meaning that we would not be able to host many of those who would normally attend the Courtyard Soirée and Legacy Brunch. Unfortunately, with a high number of cases currently in New Orleans, there is no way to know if or when these attendance caps would be increased. We also had reservations about asking our out-of-town alumnae to make the choice of traveling to attend the weekend at a time when that may not be a comfortable decision or in their best interest. Across all of these considerations, we did not want to put our alumnae in the position of having to choose between celebrating with their classmates and potentially risking their health, for an event that would need to be significantly modified.

These announcements, though disappointing, also bring hope for the many happy times that we will share together in the future, and the greater appreciation and enjoyment we will experience when we can celebrate in the way we have come to cherish.

Please be on the lookout for more information to come regarding how we will honor our classes ending in 0 and 5, particularly our 50 year class of 1970. Our sincerest hope is that we will be able to host Reunion Weekend in October 2021 with honor classes ending in 0, 1, 5, and 6 together at the Rosary again.

Please know that we are praying for you. Stay safe.

With Love,
