The Children of Mary
In 1824, St. Madeleine Sophie founded the Congregation of the Children of Mary. In 1834, St. Philippine began instructing the first Children of Mary at City House in St. Louis. In 1869, the first meeting of the Sodality was held here in New Orleans.
To encourage the RSCJ to foster the Congregation, St. Philippine wrote ...
How rare it is to meet a valiant woman. Let us labor, then, to form some at any cost. They will form others and good will come of it.
And so, today we carry on Sophie and Philippine's work by spiritually nourishing our current member and accepting aspirants (new members) into the Children of Mary.
Mass & Meeting
We meet once a month, usually on the first Saturday of the month. We say the rosary at 8:45am, have mass at 9:00am, followed by refreshments and our meeting.
