Theater: There will be drama
“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”
-Oscar Wilde
FIND YOUR VOICE
At Sacred Heart, every student has a chance to shine whether it's in lead roles, supporting casts, tech crew or theatrical producing. The ASH Theatre Program is designed to provide every student the opportunity to find their unique, creative, individual voice through Drama classes, musical productions, oratory, monologue and scene work.
Our program seeks to build and grow knowledge of oneself and foster self confidence by supporting a safe environment in which to express themselves.
We inspire our students to learn all aspects of the theatre – onstage and off. Students who are interested in the technical side can participate in set, lighting and sound design as well as stage management (aka, the Tech Crew).
Film Studies are offered in the Upper School. Upper School performs two main stage musical productions every year (fall and spring productions), some in collaboration with students from other local high schools.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
The 8th grade puts on a musical where students learn all aspects of a theatrical performance: acting, stage direction, production, audio and sound, lights and more. The musical is performed for the ASH community, family, friends, and special guests like the St. Michael's Special School.
