Cardinals Basketball Fights to the Final Buzzer
The Cardinal basketball team dropped a tough contest last Tuesday against 4A opponent E.D. White with a final score of 39-35. Libby Fitzpatrick ’26 and Zoie Kelly ’29 both turned in 14 points in the game. Lily Varisco ’27 grabbed a team high 7 rebounds while Leah Varisco’26 chimed in a team high 5 assists. Our JV team dropped a close game with a final 0f 27-25. Next the Cardinals took on Archbishop Hannan. The team managed a gritty hard fought win with Leah Varsico’26 scoring the go ahead basket with 2.7 remaining on the clock to capture a 41-39 win. Leah also tallied 9 points in the contest and 7 assists. Sophie Lo ’26 gave the squad a huge lift off the bench tallying 10 points while Libby Fitzpatrick ’26 and Zoie Kelly ’29 pitched in 10 points and 9 points respectively. Lily Varisco’27 also led the team in rebounding with 7. The JV took another close loss with a final score of 23-20. Birdie Bernaird ’29 led the Cardinals with 6 points while Lily Gravolet ’30 chimed in 5 points.

The Cardinal Basketball team traveled to Washington, DC, over winter break to compete in the Sacred Heart Network Basketball Tournament, facing strong competition while building meaningful community with sister schools from across the country.

Academy of the Sacred Heart celebrated the Feast of Mater Admirabilis on October 20, 2025, with an all-school Mass and live tableau. This year’s senior class chose Kate Cummings '25.
