The Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Baton Rouge this past Saturday to compete in the very competitive St. Joseph’s Academy Invitational. The girls got the opportunity to compete on a true cross country course with lots of hills. They truly tested themselves against some of the best runners in the state. The team finished with a very impressive 5th place out of 34 teams. Jane A.’31 finished 19th overall and first for the team to earn a prized t-shirt. Helen W.’31 ran a new personal record time of 15:14 to finish 2nd for the team. Reed C.’33 was the first 5th grader to cross the line for the Cardinals and she finished 3rd overall with a personal record time of 15:42. Following right behind Reed was Brooks R.’33 running a time of 15:44 which is a new personal record. Helping the Cardinals score valuable points for the team were Coco D.’31, Naomi H.’31 and Lillian R. ’33 The Cardinals return to action this Saturday in Hammond.
