At the Academy of the Sacred Heart, we love sports: the dedication to practice, the discipline of excellence, the excitement of a well-executed competition, the energy of cheering fans, the personal satisfaction of “play” and the exuberance of victory. Our legacy of excellence in athletics surrounds our gym with banners of countless teams of Sacred Heart women who have learned the valued lessons of athletic achievement. Most importantly, we know that sports and athletics support the growth and development of young women.
Several months ago, we launched a search of an Athletic Director to lead our program at ASH. Our search was a thorough one; and our Search Committee carefully considered many strong leaders with various skills and competencies. Among these potential leaders, one person stood out among them all: Susan Preston Bower.
Today, we share the good news: the appointment of Sue Bower as our new Sacred Heart Athletic Director.
Mrs. Bower comes to Sacred Heart with extensive experience in the field of athletics and a strong record of administrative leadership. She has successfully led programs at the secondary and collegiate levels in athletics, both in New Orleans and in other cities.
As Sue has shared with me, “Sacred Heart is known for giving young ladies the opportunity to grow both intellectually and spiritually, but it also has strong athletic traditions. I am excited to work with an outstanding leadership team and help the school not only maintain but enhance its excellence in athletics. I look forward to my return to New Orleans and working with a great group of coaches and students. Go Cardinals!"
