The JV started fast, jumping out to a 10-2 lead and went on to win the first set 25-11. The second set was almost an instant replay as the Cardinals started fast and finished strong winning the second set 25-11 as well.

Leading the way for the Cardinals were Kate Farris ’24 with four aces and four kills and Mary Elise Meyer ’24 with three aces and four kills. On defense, Ellie Bendich ’24 and Taylor Robert ’24 came up with three digs each.

The next match was against the Ursuline Academy Lions. The Cardinals started an all freshman squad for this match. The Class of ’25 took care of business defeating the Lions 25-9 and 25-13. Claire Moriarty ’25 led the offense with seven assists from the setting position. She also added four aces. Playing as outside hitters for this match, Charlotte Bush ’25 and Evelyn Monstead ’25 both passed well and had two kills each. Bria Egana’25 had two big blocks to go along with her four kills and two aces. Her fellow middle blocker, Natalia Mehaffie ’25 added four kills of her own to the mix. Callie Parenton’25 had three aces and a kill from her right side spot.

The final match of the day featured the JV Cardinals taking on a very good Dominican team. The Cardinals had a tough, fun match against them with lots of back and forth action. They had tougher serving overall and were able to make the Cardinals play many points out of system. The Cardinals ended up losing 25-17 and 25-16.

Lily Stone ’24 distributed some very nice sets to all her hitters and kept the offense rolling against the tough defense of Dominican. It was a fun day and great to get back to playing volleyball again.
