Come join your fellow 4th graders on the Lower School Academic Games Team! This semester, we will start by learning the game Equations in anticipation of participating in the New Orleans Academic Games League competition on November 6 and 13. Equations is a game of creative mathematics and involves authentic learning experiences and problem solving. Players develop new skills, which in turn helps to build confidence along with a love of math! After the November competition, we will begin learning the game On-Sets, in which players learn to create and describe sets of colored objects using union, intersection, set difference, set complement, the universe, and the null set.

The Lower School Choir will learn how to be great choral singers and perform music that is both fun and beautiful. The choir will sing for all of our all-school liturgies and begin preparing for our Christmas Concert in December. Although the Primary Choir meets after school, the choir is an extension of the Primary music program; the choir represents both the Primary Division and the Academy of the Sacred Heart during many events throughout the year. Students are expected to be faithful to rehearsals each week unless illness prevents attendance.

Sensei Sergiy Dolinni was the head coach of the National Karate Team of Ukraine in 2018, 2019. Will teach karate etiquette (rules of conduct in the gym), the basic techniques of Olympic karate, physical training and the Japanese names of the techniques taught. It will be a fun and interesting activity! Students wear karate uniforms that you will need to purchase.

Young karatekas at the end of the 12 week session will be able to take part in the karate exam and receive new belts.
