Campus Ministry

"Strengthen in us, O God,
the work You have begun in us."

There are many ways to get involved in Campus Ministry at Sacred Heart.

Under the guidance of the Upper School Campus Minister, a small group of seniors form the core leadership of the Upper School Campus MInistry. Our goal is to create a community of faith that promotes positivity and inclusivity, two values intrinsic to living out the Five Goals of the Sacred Heart.

Campus Ministry aims to respond to God’s love through sharing that love to students, faculty, staff, and all our brothers and sisters, especially through service. Our concrete acts of love are formal, such as leading school-wide chapels or prayer services, class retreats, and creating new ways to connect the Church’s liturgical calendar to school-wide events. They also are informal, evident in how we treat one another, faculty and staff, and our environment. Love of God is inseparable from love of neighbor and creation.

Ministers are encouraged to extend their service to the wider community in the form of prayer and leadership. For example, they can attend a new church in a different parish, help lead a lay-led mass, lead a church in a decade of the rosary,  and attend Catholic Youth Organization events in local parishes.  In terms of the Sacred Heart community, the Campus Ministry team prepares chapels and retreats for the other classes.  With themes such as “Identity as a person and a child of God,” which was the theme of the Freshman Retreat, the girls are working to teach the rest of the community about certain values as they pertain to faith.

Seniors in Campus Ministry daily devote themselves in little and big ways to encourage seniors and younger classmates to embrace their faith. One way we achieve this is through more meaningful and interactive weekly chapels. We also inspire students to live out their faith through our student-led faith-based retreats. As young women of faith, we understand the importance that all students receive the opportunity to develop and deepen their faith lives before beginning the next chapter of their lives beyond Sacred Heart. The Campus Ministers want students to have a faith life that endures beyond their time at Sacred Heart.

The Campus MInistry Team is very excited to take on this active role as young women of faith and to serve the community of Sacred Heart and beyond.
