Head of School Welcome

Dear Members of the Sacred Heart Community,

micheline dutil headshot

I am very pleased to welcome all of our students and their families back to school for what promises to be a fantastic 2023-24 school year!

Our theme this year is “Living in Freedom, Truth and Following our Catholic Conscience”. As such, we will pay special attention to these concepts. We will focus on Goal 5 which is all about living and growing in an atmosphere of wise freedom, celebrating and elevating truth as per Christ’s teachings and developing pathways for our students to recognize that our Catholic conscience is our moral compass and guides us in sound decision-making each day.

Our faculty and staff have worked hard to ensure that all is ready, clean and prepared to receive our girls. Much has been accomplished on both campuses over the summer break. We have a beautifully restored chapel on the Rosary campus. The chapel has updated mechanicals which will make it more energy efficient and comfortable and the fresh new paint is gorgeous. I thank all of the stakeholders who gave so generously to make this project a reality. We will also enjoy a new Innovation Lab on the Mater campus. This project was made possible through another group of stakeholders, our Future Founders. Furthermore, the Future Founders have also enabled us to build an outdoor classroom which is not only beautiful, but very functional and it is located outside the gym, under the bridge. Merci beaucoup alums for helping us make this a reality!

During this past year, our school was involved in the SHCOG (Sacred Heart Commission on Goals) reflection process. We have concluded gathering data. It helped us to identify what we are doing very well and how our recommendations should be addressed. We have written a report which will be submitted to the Society of the RSCJ shortly.

As I compose this back-to-school message, we are poised to welcome 791 students on August 11th. This is, indeed, a very healthy enrollment. We are excited to welcome all the new students and their families to our ASH community. There are many opportunities for parents to get involved through social events, clubs and volunteering. We look forward to getting to know you!

As always, I am available to everyone in our community. Write to me, call or visit. It will be my pleasure to listen, help and answer any questions.

Yours in Christ,
