The Rosary Alumnae Association is proud to honor Liz Hadden Creel as this year’s Alumna of the Year.
Liz Creel is a proud alumna of Academy of the Sacred Heart, where she was an “original,” a term used for lifelong students. After graduating, she pursued higher education at LSU and earned her Master of Social Work degree from Tulane University. Throughout her life, Liz has been a dedicated community servant. She is a sustaining member and past president of the Junior League of New Orleans, a former board member of the Garden District Association, and a previous member of the Catholic Charities Mission Committee.
Most recently, she co-led the Foundations for the Future Holy Name of Jesus School and Parish Capital Campaign. Liz has also helped raise funds for numerous organizations, including Café Reconcile, Jesuit High School, Notre Dame Seminary, and Boys Hope Girls Hope.
For the past 15 years, Liz has managed the ParkView Historic Hotel, which she owns with her husband of 33 years, Terry Creel. Together, they are the proud parents of four adult sons, three cherished daughters-in-law, and grandparents to a new Sacred Heart student. Liz and Terry also embrace their roles as farmers, beekeepers, and breeders of peafowl and ornamental pheasants, while maintaining a passion for historic preservation. They have restored several Garden District properties and are currently leading a project to restore a home along the Bayou Teche, alongside an effort to rejuvenate a nearby town.
Liz’s dedication to Sacred Heart has been unwavering. She has served on the alumnae board multiple times, most recently as chair of the Alumnae Courtyard Soirée. She and Terry founded the Nancy Stafford Hartson Scholarship Fund and established the Urban Farmer’s Garden on the Mater Campus, which continues to educate students about agriculture and food.
