Sacred Heart announces Lauren Wegmann Walker ’04 as Director of Major Gifts and Capital Campaign

The Academy of the Sacred Heart is pleased to announce that Lauren Wegmann Walker has been appointed as its Director of Major Gifts and Capital Campaign, effective August 26. In this role, Walker will be responsible for implementing the capital campaign and strategic fundraising that supports the school’s long-term strategic plan, “Inspiring Faith-Filled Women of Courage of Confidence.”

Walker joins Sacred Heart after serving as the Director of Development, Major Gifts in Tulane University’s Office of Advancement. In this position she managed a portfolio of over 100 major gift relationships for the university’s $1.3 billion campaign. Walker also served on Tulane’s Leadership Giving team as a Program Officer, during which time she worked closely with the university’s top leadership to prepare for the university’s campaign. Prior to her tenure at Tulane, Walker worked in Washington, D.C. as a Senior Legislative Assistant to U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Rodney Alexander. It was in this role she managed a broad portfolio of legislative issues and served as the lead policy advisor to the Congressman in his position as Vice-Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies. 

Walker holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the College of Charleston. In her new position at Sacred Heart, Walker succeeds Helen Read Young, who served the school in various capacities, most recently as the Director of Major Gifts and Capital Campaign.
