Courtney Ward - Assistant Athletic Director
Courtney Ward joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Assistant Athletic Director and Head Girls Basketball Coach. Courtney is a New Orleans native and holds a Master of Science in Leadership from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS. Courtney has over 13 years of playing experience and over 10 years of coaching experience.
Tracey Lightfoot - Little Hearts Speech-Language Pathologist
Tracey Lightfoot joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Little Hearts Speech-Language Pathologist. Tracey has over 33 years of experience and holds a Masters in Communication Disorders from LSU. She has two Academy of the Sacred Heart daughters, Haley ('14) and Mallory ('17).
Vanya Doychev - Little Hearts Music
Vanya Doychev joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Little Hearts Music educator. Originally from Bulgaria, Vanya studied violin performance and holds a Bachelors from the Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2005, she was offered an Assistantship in violin performance at SLU and came to study in US. She currently performs with the Baton Rouge Symphony.
Carla Gonzalez - Spanish Language
Carla Gonzalez joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Spanish Language educator. Carla has over 5 years of language teaching experience. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Tulane University. She spent summer 2022 teaching in Italy.
Jaclyn Martin - Upper School Science
Jaclyn Martin joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Upper School Science educator. Jaclyn received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in entomology from Oklahoma State University and earned her PhD in entomology from Texas A&M University.
Brendan Gonzalez - Upper School Social Studies
Brendan Gonzalez joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Upper School Social Studies educator. Brendan received his BA in History from Loyola New Orleans, and Masters in History from LSU. Over his 12-year teaching career, he has taught AP Government, AP World History and AP Comparative Government, along with World Geography.
Nicole Stone - Co-Prekindergarten
Nicole Stone joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Co-Prekindergarten educator. Nicole has a master’s degree and 14 years teaching experience. She is a mom to a 2022 ASH graduate.
Renee Pando - Middle School Art
Renee Pando joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Middle School Art educator. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in K-12 art education. She has taught visual arts and fine arts at the high school level for the last 9 years.
Kim Barrios - Upper School Math
Kim Barrios joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Upper School Math educator. Kim has 27 years of teaching experience in catholic schools in the New Orleans area, and she has taught many mathematics courses ranging from 5th through 12th grades. She earned a BA in Mathematics from the University of New Orleans and her teaching certification from Our Lady of Holy Cross College.
Emily Rovetto - Middle School English
Emily Rovetto joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Middle School English educator. A 2004 ASH graduate, Emily worked the last 12 years in print and broadcast journalism, including as a reporter at WDSU and The Times-Picayune. She has a Master's degree in English and has worked as a substitute teacher.
Jessica Baudin Roussel - Middle School Math
Jessica Baudin Roussel joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Middle School Math educator. Jessica graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Grades Education 1-5 then graduated in 2014, with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education. She is a state certified Math Content Leader and was named the St. Tammany Parish Elementary District Teacher of the Year.
Adele Layrisson - 8th Grade ELA
Adele Layrisson joins the Sacred Heart community as the new 8th grade ELA educator. A New Orleans native, she attended Stanford University where she studied French and Psychology. After graduation, she taught high school English in the south of France and has taught English at French-immersion schools in New Orleans. This year, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Loyola University.
Victoria Major - 3rd Grade
Victoria Major joins the Sacred Heart community as the new 3rd Grade educator. Victoria has been in education for 20 years and holds a Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction Special Education from the University of Mississippi. She has 2 girls at ASH (10th and 5th).
Molly Sanders - Middle School Counselor
Molly Sanders joins the Sacred Heart community as the new Middle School Counselor. Molly is a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart class of 2007. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling from Loyola University of New Orleans and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has a daughter entering Kindergarten, a daughter entering Little Hearts 3, and a daughter who will join ASHFIN in January.
