Sacred Heart holds ninth annual Shelby Leonhard Memorial Blood Drive

The Academy of the Sacred Heart hosted the ninth annual Shelby Leonhard Memorial Blood Drive in partnership with Ochsner Blood Bank on March 13. Co-chaired by Anjanette Bent and Michelle Janusa, the drive attracted many Sacred Heart students, parents, faculty, and staff, as well as other members of the local community, and collected a total of 92 units of blood to fill needs throughout the community.

Shelby Leonhard was a Sacred Heart student who lost her battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2011 when she was in eighth grade. Since that time, the Leonhard family has become advocates for blood donation, and the Shelby Leonhard Memorial Blood Drive at Sacred Heart has become their way to give back to the community that helped them in their time of need.
