The Academy of the Sacred Heart hosted the 2018 Lenten Missionary Assembly for the East Bank Region of New Orleans, which was presented by the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) on March 7. Sacred Heart fourth and fifth grade students joined students from St. Clement of Rome, St. Matthew the Apostle, and St. Francis Xavier to grow in global awareness through world games, music, prayer, and reflection. Seniors from Cabrini High School led the activities.
Founded in France in 1843 by Bishop Charles de Forbin Jansen, MCA focuses on “children helping children” and exists in 110 countries. “MCA animates and educates children that they are missionaries to other kids around the world through prayer and exercises,” said Tanya Cenac, the director of the MCA in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. “Our biggest activity is the Lenten Missionary Assembly, which is open to all schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.”
