ASH Middle School Math Teacher receives Fulbright Award
Communications

The U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced that Brynn Johnson, Middle School Math Teacher at Sacred Heart, has been offered a Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Semester Research grant.

Ms. Johnson is one of approximately 25 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad through the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program in 2019-2020. She will spend the spring semester of 2020 in New Zealand, researching and observing how problem-solving and collaborative problem-solving skills are successfully incorporated into elementary and middle school classrooms.

“The Fulbright Program aims to promote mutual understanding among nations, so it will also be an opportunity to share and exchange all of the great work happening at the Rosary,” says Ms. Johnson. “In addition to my inquiry project, I'm hoping to visit our network school in Auckland and possibly other network schools in Australia too.”

The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Semester Research Program provides U.S. K-12 educators the opportunity to travel to one of 12 countries for three to six months of independent study and professional development, during which they learn and share educational practices with their peers, to better prepare students for successful and responsible participation in the global community. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.
