A few weeks ago, the Class of 2029 had the chance to experience the natural beauty of Camp Kahdalea in Brevard, North Carolina. During their time there, they fully embraced our 5 Sacred Heart Goals, showcasing incredible resilience, strength, and excellence as young women. We continue to keep the communities of Western North Carolina and our friends at Camp Kahdalea in our prayers.
Here's what some students had to say:
Goal 1 - “I encountered Goal 1 when my group went hiking. Right as we got to the top of the mountain, it stopped raining (when it had been raining for about 30 minutes), which was a blessing from God.” “Chapel with Sis was one of my favorite things this whole trip. I was able to connect with God and nature.”
Goal 2 - “One example of Goal 2 was working together with my group to try to build a fire. After lots of problem-solving, we could see a glimpse of a fire.”
Goal 3 - ” As a class, we focused on picking up any trash that we found in the Pisgah National Forest. I encountered Goal 3 on our hiking day when we picked up an entire family's worth of trash and backpacked the trash out of the mountain.”
Goal 4 - “I encountered a lot of goal 4, community on the trip, especially when I got to catch up with people I haven't spoken to in a while and just remembered old memories.” “I encountered Goal 4 when everyone was in the cafeteria before dinner, laughing and having fun.”
Goal 5 - “I experienced wise freedom throughout the whole trip, but especially when we had free time, we had a choice to go to the dining hall, other cabin, showers, or just walk around the camp."
