Class of 2020 Celebrated in Baccalaureate Liturgy

Sacred Heart held the Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2020 on July 27, 2020.

Due to the restrictions placed on gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sacred Heart adapted this Mass to incorporate traditions usually observed on Prize Day and Graduation, and the Mass was livestreamed for students' families, friends and the school community to watch online.

Mass was celebrated by Fr. Justin Daffron, S.J. Following the Eucharist was the presentation to Mary by Elizabeth King, who was chosen by her class to perform this honor. Class President Summer Buscha announced the class gift, traditionally given by the graduating class to benefit the school. This year’s gift is restoration of pews in the Chapel. Salutatorian Monet Ménard and Valedictorian Clare Hickham followed with their speeches to the class. To close the ceremony, Upper School Division Head Julie Boyd presented the class candle to Pierce Gibbons, who was chosen by her peers to keep this candle, a symbol of the class’s light and unity.
