Sacred Heart is proud to announce that three members of the Class of 2021 have been named National Merit Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Congratulations to Sarah Dowd, Caroline Evans and Katie Paige Gardes!
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition
and scholarships that began in 1955. The three Sacred Heart seniors are part of a
nationwide pool of Semifinalists representing less than one percent of U.S. high school
seniors. Semifinalists from each state are selected based on their high scores on the
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
National Merit Finalists will be announced in February based on students’ strong academic
records, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities,
employment, honors, essay and recommendations. Scholarship winners will then be
selected from the group of Finalists.
