UPDATE as of March 2021:

Sacred Heart is proud to announce that three members of the Class of 2021 have moved on from Semifinalists to National Merit Finalists, and two have been named Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

NMS Finalists Version 2020

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Sacred Heart's three Finalists - Sarah Dowd, Caroline Evans and Katie Paige Gardes - were recognized in September 2020 as part of a nationwide pool of Semifinalists representing fewer than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Semifinalists from each state are selected based on their high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

National Merit Finalists Sarah Dowd, Caroline Evans and Katie Paige Gardes!

Sacred Heart's two Commended Students - Haydée Dennard and Charlotte Galloway - are among the approximately 34,000 top-scoring students across the nation (representing about two percent of high school seniors) who will receive letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

National Merit Finalists were announced in late February 2021, based on students’ strong academic records, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, employment, honors, essay and recommendations. Scholarship winners will then be selected from the group of Finalists.
