Sacred Heart Inducts Six New Members into the Très Bien Society.

On Monday, March 24, 2025, we inducted six new members into the Très Bien Society. Since its founding in 2016, the group has grown to forty members of students and now, alumnae. The Très Bien Society was established to honor the legacy of Margaret “Marky” Read Pontius ’63 through a generous gift from her husband Dr. Uwe Pontius.

Dr. Pontius shared, “She had a certain way of carrying herself – a combination of self-awareness, competence, and a deep respect for and ability to empathize with others.” Recognizing the challenges facing today’s young women, Dr. Pontius hopes that this Society can serve as one way to promote, recognize and strengthen the positive influences that can serve as anchors throughout one’s life.

An honorary society that recognizes students who exhibit qualities distinctive of a Sacred Heart leader:

• Faith
• Intellect
• Sensitivity to community
• Leads with grace
• Live out the mission of Sacred Heart in their daily lives

Members create a memorable community of student leaders who are role models for our Sacred Heart community:
• Annual luncheon with alumnae
• Très Bien certificate & commemorative pin
• Work with the Admissions and Alumnae Offices as ambassadors and volunteers.
