Little Hearts Curriculum
Music, arts, language, laughter and lots of fun. That's how we inspire our Little Hearts.
Curriculum
Curriculum
Little Hearts offers a balanced approach to learning. Our philosophy combines the rich traditions of Sacred Heart with the developmental standards of each age group. Project Work has been integrated into our curriculum. Project work provides for authentic learning which will contribute to a child’s short and long term academic and social development.
1/2s Program
Our 1/2s program was created in response from parents to have an early learning program which provides an enriched environment for their 1 year old daughters. The initial goal for the 1/2s is to help them feel safe, feel loved and develop a sense of security. Once this goal is accomplished, the teachers focus on providing daily opportunities for girls to play, explore, engage and create.
2/3s Program
Our 2/3s program allows girls to explore, imagine, problem solve and create. Children work in small groups and participate in active, engaging learning activities. Our focus is to teach children how to think not what to think. In a 2/3’s classroom, you will find girls building block structures, painting, singing, participating in dramatic play as well as working on projects of interest.
3/4s Program
Our 3/4s participate in hands-on activities which promote critical and creative thinking. Children are encouraged to collaborate with friends and build relationships. Project work with the 3/4s allows teachers to integrate all areas of the curriculum in an engaging way. Children take initiatives, and teachers serve as facilitators by providing opportunities for more in-depth investigations into areas of student interest.

Our small classroom sizes are designed with a teacher and a co-teacher in each. The Little Hearts classrooms are inviting and spacious, with an atmosphere that is engaging and child-friendly.
Program
We focus on working with each student to enhance socialization skills, language development and motor ability. Individual and small group instruction provides teachers with the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with each child.
Activities
Our program includes receptive and expressive language development, classroom math/science and fine-motor activities, imaginative play and outdoor recreation, enrichment classes in religion, art, library, music and physical education.
Environment
Other activities include use of manipulative materials and games to enhance readiness skills and coordination, group experiences to promote sociability and concern for peers and the environment, and informal introduction to pre-reading and math skills.
Our Spirit
