Respect and Caring for God's Creation

Discovering and practicing ways to conserve resources is woven into our Preschool and Lower School mission, which call us to teach respect for creation and prepare our students to be good stewards of the earth's resources.

Students engage in meaningful lessons on proper recycling and thoughtful conservation. Engineering skills are practiced as students design and create models that seek to help our environment including water filters and windmills.

Second Grade Farmers Market

Each spring, second graders host a Farmers Market. This year-long project includes planting, growing, weeding, and harvesting basil, tomatoes, strawberries, and more. Students visit local gardens and markets including the New Orleans Farmers Market and Samuel L. Green School’s edible garden. Second graders investigate the world with intellectual curiosity and cultural literacy in preparation and in planning for hosting their own market where the Sacred Heart Community is invited.
