Throw me something, sister! The Sacred Heart community spent the week mambo'ing down the avenue to celebrate the carnival season.
Little Hearts and Preschool students kicked off the fun the Wednesday before Mardi Gras by dressing in costume and parading through the Nims in the annual Krewe of Smocks parade. Themes included ASH-Fin babies dressed as popcorn and kindergarten students as minions.
The festivities continued the next morning as eighth graders stepped back in time and marched through the decades - 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s - during Krewe de Coeurs, a Middle School tradition.
The culminating event occurred later that afternoon with the whole school gathered in the front courtyard as the seniors paraded around the fountain for the Krewe of Fluff. This year's theme was "Gnarly Gras," and Mr. Savage and Ms. Jhita reigned as king and queen. After the Krewe of Fluff rolled, the Sophie B. Wright Charter School marching band joined the fun, a tradition since Hurricane Katrina. They added great music and entertainment for all to enjoy.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
