The Class of 2021 was formally welcomed into the Upper School community during the Freshman Induction Mass on September 22. Earlier in the month, senior and freshman "big sisters" and "little sisters" had many opportunities to strengthen the bonds of friendship through various Freshman Welcome Week activities.
Headmistress Sr. Melanie Guste, RSCJ, who is a member of the Class of 1970, emphasized the importance of friendship to the seniors and freshmen. "My big sister and I are still friends after all of these years since I stood in this chapel and did exactly what you are doing here today. I really pray that each of you will discover real friendships with your sisters and that one day years from now, you too can look back on this person as a lifelong friend of yours."
Following Mass, each freshman was presented with two gifts from Sr. Guste, a small Sacred Heart booklet and a photo of Mater Admirabilis, as well as a pink rose from her senior big sister. Isabel Evans, Freshman Class President, then led her peers in an Act of Acceptance to affirm their belief in the Sacred Heart community.
