Upper School economics students, Caroline Martin '18, Jenna O'Dwyer '18, and Elizabeth Skrmetta '18, were named runner-ups in the 2018 Trust Your Crazy Ideas Challenge, an entrepreneurial competition sponsored by Junior Achievement New Orleans (JA), the Brees Dream Foundation, and the Idea Village. The Sacred Heart team was among 25 semi-finalists who were mentored by local entrepreneurs and community leaders over the course of eight weeks to fine tune their business pitches. On March 10, they pitched their bio-engineering product "Cadiz," a reusable hospital band with real-time monitoring for patients' vitals, to a panel of judges and ranked among the top three teams. The next day, they were announced as runner-ups at the Pelicans' basketball game and received $2,500 in funding.
