Jacqueline Terrebonne '94 serves as Galerie's Editor-in-Chief, after originally coming on to the team in the role of Design Editor in 2016. Her diverse interests and deep sense of curiosity informs the diverse and eclectic mix of design, fashion, and visual arts in every issue of the magazine. In addition to being a member of BAFTA and the James Beard Foundation, she recently completed a book of design tips for the home, which will release in spring 2019.
Terrebonne has worked in diverse capacities across the media landscape for decades, including roles at Architectural Digest, Gourmet, and Martha Stewart Living. She honed her marketing skills at Scholastic during the Harry Potter heyday, where she developed and designed launch materials for the releases of new titles.
What does Sacred Heart mean to you?
I can't imagine who I would be without Sacred Heart. My dearest friends were all in my kindergarten class there, and it's incredible to not only see the extraordinary women we all turned out to be but to also have friendships that last a lifetime.
How did your Sacred Heart education help get you where you are professionally?
Creative thinking ran through all of my classes at Sacred Heart. Approaching assignments with an open mind and a strong sense of curiosity was highly encouraged and affects how I now work to shape a magazine and develop story ideas.
Outside of academics, what about the Sacred Heart experience uniquely influenced who you are today?
Athletics were a huge part of my development at Sacred Heart. Being on the volleyball and basketball teams instilled strong work ethics as well as the value of working together as a team—supporting others by understanding their strengths and weaknesses as well as your own.
What is your favorite Sacred Heart memory?
Congé was one of my favorite traditions. I loved sneaking around all the nooks and corners of the old building to find teachers during a game of cache-cache.
