Even with a short week, the Middle School volleyball teams were able to get in some competitive matches. On October 1, three teams traveled to River Ridge to take on John Curtis. The 6th grade Red team took the court first. Their match was very competitive, and even though they were closely matched with their opponent, they were able to pull out a victory in two sets, winning 25-19 and 25-23. Next, the 7th/8th grade White team took the court. Although they had a very slow start in set one losing 8-25, they were able to rally for set two. They played a very close set two but came up short, 23-25. Last, it was the 7th/8th grade Red team’s turn to battle the Patriots. They were able to easily defeat their opponent in two sets, winning 25-11 and 25-13.

On October 4, the Cardinals geared up for an exciting rematch against their rival Newman. Four teams made the short trip to Jefferson Avenue for some competitive volleyball. The 7th/8th grade Red and White teams played simultaneously. Both teams previously had beaten the Greenies, but this time, they both fell short. The Red team was defeated in a similar fashion that they won last time. In three very close sets, the Cardinals took the first set 25-8 but dropped the next two 23-25 and 10-15. The White team lost in two, but both sets were very tight with scores of 18-25 and 20-25.

Next up were the 7th/8th grade Black team and the 6th grade Red team. Both teams were able to close out the evening with wins against the Greenies. They had previously lost to Newman in the first match-up. The 7th/8th grade Black team was extremely excited to get their first win over rival Newman. After dropping the first set 7-25, they made drastic improvements by winning the next two sets 25-10 and 15-9. The 6th grade Red team came out victorious after three tough sets. After losing set one 16-25, they rallied to defeat the Greenies 25-20 and 15-13 in the final third set.
