On September 8, the Academy of the Sacred Heart, in partnership with Octavia Books, hosted an evening featuring the winners of the 2017 Pinckley Prizes for Crime Fiction. Number one New York Times bestselling author Louise Penny, whose just-released thirteenth book is Glass Houses, was presented with the Distinguished Body of Work Prize, and debut novelist Trudy Nan Boyce, author of Out of the Blues, was presented with the Debut Novel Prize. The Women's National Book Association of New Orleans established the Pinckley Prizes for Crime Fiction in 2012 for women writers to honor the memory of Diana Pinckley, a longtime crime fiction columnist for The New Orleans Times-Picayune, and her passion for mysteries. The event, which was held in the Nims Fine Arts Center on Sacred Heart's campus, drew a crowd of more than 300 people.
