Isabel Allende, Chile National Prize for Literature, on Natural Justice

On Friday, Sacred Heart and Garden District Book Shop hosted an engaging evening with #1 New York Times best-selling author Isabel Allende in a conversation with Anne Giselson, author and creative writing instructor at NOCCA. 

isabel allende 2017Allende stopped on her tour at Academy of the Sacred Heart to promote her newest book, In the Midst of Winter. She discussed a popular subject in her latest books: magic realism and natural justice.

She is widely-known for novels such as The House of the Spirits (La casa de los espíritus, 1982) and City of the Beasts (La ciudad de las bestias, 2002). 

Allende has been called "the world's most widely read Spanish-language author."  In 2010, she received Chile's National Literature Prize. President Barack Obama awarded her the 2014 Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Local author, Anne Giselson, was also ending her tour for her book, The Futilitarians.

Both books can be purchased at Garden District Book Shop on Prytania Street in New Orleans.
